MATAANO, BRINGING OUT THE MULTICULTURAL WOMAN TO THE FOREFRONT!

Ayaan and Idyl Mohallim are the creators behind "MATAANO" which means twins in Somali. These two gorgeous Somali women are breaking barriers & boundaries with their clothing line. I wish these two ladies the best of luck, watch the video below to learn more about them.

This design is influenced by the "diraac", popular & traditional clothing of Somali women.

~"Yes. Definitely. We are greatly influenced by our Somali heritage. Growing up and being surrounded by beautiful women wearing colorful dresses. Africans love color and we can see how that influenced in our Spring 2009 designs." Ayaan & Idyl Mohallim

I DARE YOU TO EXPRESS YOURSELF

Apparently, Salt-n-Peppa will be @ Winstar this weekend, but I won't be able to make the show. Salt-n-Peppa without a doubt was one of my favorite groups growing up. Goodness, female rappers actually had common sense & real content in their music back in the day; instead of acting like a Harajuku Barbie Doll lookin all kinds of crazy! Well, I guess a combo of psycho & sex is what it takes to be marketable now a days. In the words of Salt-n-Peppa," You know life is all about expression/You only live once, and you're not coming back/So express yourself, yeah". Enjoy this dope throwback.

WHETHER YOU'RE HIGH OR LOW!!

If you were not "sold" by Janelle Monáe when Metropolis Suite I of IV: The Chase came out then I hope you will be soon, don't sleep on this sista. The track "Tightrope" ft. Big Boi will definitely convince you to become a fan. In the words of mi hermana, "sista is irresistibly FRESH FRESH FRESH".
The Janelle Monáe I initially fell in love with, the song below is from her unreleased 2003 album The Audition.

Here's her energetic new single "Tightrope" of the upcoming album The ArchAndroid, which is due to drop May 18. I challenge you to master the tightrope & start doing it in front of the mirror, in the aisles of the grocery store, & up in the club. She be James Brownin' it! Enjoy!
